Hi all! I could really use some of your wonderful opinions for a project of mine I'm working on.
Long story short: I'm working on a website AAALLLL about learning art! Right now I'm focused on the visual arts (particularly drawing, because that's my main focus so I can say more about it), but in the future I'll be expanding into crafting, music, culinary arts, whatevs! theartfulgeek.com/
The site is down for a total reconstruction for the moment, but you can check out my Coming Soon page, I suppose!
This place is gonna be focused on people just starting out, so I would really LOVE to hear some opinions on the kinds of things you guys would be interested in seeing on a site like this. Here's what I've got planned so far:
Introduction Pages: So these will be right out front; you choose what topic you're interested in (drawing, painting, etc.), and it will take you to a page full of quick tips, books, websites, and all that to start you on your journey!
Resource Page: This will have all the BEST resources I can find on each subject, such as books, websites, and tools I or other artists have used and highly recommend.
Forums: Because forums are cool! I'm sure you all know what forums are for, so I will not elaborate.
Blog: This is where I plan on writing about creativity 'hacks' and answer some common questions I or others hear in their area of study. (For instance, for drawing I would answer questions like 'is using reference cheating?' or 'is it good or bad to listen to music while you draw?' You get the idea.)
Courses: I will be offering guided courses and potentially one-on-one teaching in drawing to start, and as the site gets bigger, I plan on expanding to other top-notch artists that would love to offer their wisdom as well!
So that's the plan! I'm really curious what you guys think...anything I should add? Remove? I'm desperate for some opinions over here! Thanks in advance for the guys who took the time to read this, and extra thanks for anyone that gives me some insight!
